Here are your Leeds United headlines for the morning of Saturday October 31.
Leeds United winger tied with Europe’s best in key stat
Jack Harrison has made as many key passes this season than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues so far this season.
The Leeds United winger is tied with Paris Saint-Germain star Angel di Maria in terms of key passes made in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 in the 2020/21 campaign so far.
Harrison and di Maria have both made 11 key passes this season, ranking them one key pass ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Lyon’s Memphis Depay.
This illustrates the level at which Harrison is operating this season, with the on-loan Manchester City wide man impressing for the Whites as they get used to life back in the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa could face tactical problem as Leeds gain respect
Leeds United have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side claiming 10 points from their first six Premier League fixtures.
The Whites responded to their first real set-back of the campaign, a 1-0 defeat to Wolves, by putting three past Aston Villa last week in a 3-0 win. This lifted them up to sixth in the Premier League table.
However, the way Wolves set up against Leeds United could offer other opponents a blueprint to follow. Nestor Watach has taken a look at the challenge this could pose to the Whites.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were well organised and strong at the back in the game against Bielsa’s men and had a game plan to soak up the Leeds United pressure.
Leeds United owner explains how club could follow Manchester City model
Andrea Radrizzani has explained how Leeds United could copy Manchester City’s model of owning a network of clubs around the world.
The Whites owner has spoken about how the Elland Road outfit could position themselves at the centre of a web of clubs, much like what City have with New York City FC, Melbourne City and City Football Group as a whole.
“Before the Leeds opportunity presented itself, I was thinking of investing in an academy or club that was solely for the purpose of trading football talent,” Radrizzani told IlSole24ore. “Then I felt the need for a more lasting investment that would leave a legacy.
“Now I have in mind a group that has at least 2-3 clubs in Europe to develop synergies on a technical and commercial level.”
