Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani confirms talks with San Francisco 49ers over new investment

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has confirmed the club have held talks with the owners of NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers over increased investment in the club.

The 49ers owners have a minority stake in the Whites but are looking to strengthen their position with greater investment following the club's promotion back to the Premier League.

In an interview with La Nacion, Radrizzani confirmed the talks but has maintained Leeds aren't exactly in need of further investment.

"We have had different conversations," he said. "We have minority partners the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL that have expressed interest in increasing their participation in shareholding.

"To be honest, today it is not a necessity, but we are working well together, they are good friends and if they can help the club accel its growth, why not?"

Radrizzani was also asked what his aims are for the club in the next five years.

He responded: "The objective in five years is to participate in European competition.

"We want to be a modern club, but also we need to preserve our legacy and the spirit of family that we have now.

"So, I believe that we can become a strong institution of English football and, by continuation, of the football world."
