Leeds United news as Whites battle Premier League rivals for Rasmus Kristensen

Here are the latest Leeds United headlines on Wednesday, 1 June 2022.

Brentford set to rival Leeds United for Salzburg star as Bees reportedly prepare £10m offer

Leeds United are interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg's Rasmus Kristensen this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Luke Ayling's sending off against Arsenal late in the season left them without a recognised right-back in their first-team squad, meaning Robin Koch had to fill in for the final Premier League games.

Thankfully, the Whites survived with a 2-1 win over Brentford. And Leeds look set to pursue Salzburg right-back Kristensen in an effort to strengthen their defence.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have an opening bid ready for Kristensen, with negotiations ongoing over becoming the second Salzburg player to make a summer switch to Elland Road.

Leeds have already signed one player from Salzburg this summer in the form of Brenden Aaronson, who had previously worked under Jesse Marsch during the latter's spell in Austria.

However, Leeds are set to be rivalled by Brentford for the Salzburg full-back.

In a wide ranging interview with ESPN, Aaronson revealed plenty about his want for Leeds to stay up, how excited he is to get started and just what the Whites look for in a player.

“I’m going to be the guy that’s going to be working hard too and that’s what Leeds is," said Aaronson.

A charity golf day to remember legendary Leeds United defender Norman Hunter will be held later this month to help raise funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity, in an effort to support cancer research.

Hunter passed away in 2020 after contracting COVID-19. It will be the second event held in his memory.

The inaugural event raised £40,000 and funded a major piece of equipment for a leukaemia trial. The event will be held at Horsforth Golf Club on June 24.
