Leeds United news as Weston McKennie's father hits out at Arsenal supporters amid Elland Road links

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, January 25.

Weston McKennie's father slams Arsenal fans in Twitter arguments amid Leeds United link

Weston McKennie's father, John McKennie, has hit out at Arsenal fans on social media after they questioned his ability to play under Mikel Arteta.

The Juventus midfielder has reportedly been on the Gunners' radar for a while but Jesse Marsch and Leeds United have quickly become favourites to sign the US international, with Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano saying McKennie has 'agreed' personal terms with the Whites.

Following those reports, many Gunners fans took to Twitter to claim that McKennie wouldn't get anyway near Arteta's side in the first place, with one saying: "McKennie is nowhere close to being technically good enough for Arteta’s side. He doesn’t have the creative passing IQ, or the positional IQ. I think [Yunus] Musah is a better American to sign if they want depth for [Granit] Xhaka’s position."

In response to that, John McKennie replied: "What are you smoking so I can get some!"

Another Arsenal fan posted a photo of the midfielder’s injury record in the past while seemingly begging his club not to sign the midfielder, writing: "NO! Thanks. Arsenal keep this lad away from our club."

McKennie's father once again responded in kind, saying: "That’s because he doesn’t complain about small injuries and goes hard until he absolutely needs medical! I can appreciate a lad like this on my team!"

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink explains why Jesse Marsch deserves more time at Leeds United

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink insists that Jesse Marsch 'deserves' more time at Elland Road amid growing pressure on the Leeds United head coach.

Leeds have registered just two wins from their last 16 games in the Premier League, and have failed to win any of their last six league matches.

The Whites are just one point above the relegation zone, and Marsch is now the second-favourite to become the next Premier League manager to leave his post, after Frank Lampard was relieved of his duties at Everton yesterday.

Leeds United have a Weston McKennie transfer advantage that could aid Jesse Marsch's side

Reports of Leeds United’s interest Weston McKennie are gathering pace.. The Whites are believed to be considering adding to their midfield ranks over the next few days with McKennie being the latest option explored.

Personal terms won’t be an issue, according to Fabrizio Romano, but Leeds haven’t agreed a deal with Juventus for the American just yet and they have just six days before the transfer window slams shut. Juventus may well be reluctant to lose McKennie, given he has started most games for them this season, but it’s a deal that seems to make sense for Leeds if the money is right.

He more than fits the bill in terms of ability and talent, but his personal circumstances look favourable, too, as Leeds reach out through familiar lines of communication. McKennie is represented by the Wasserman agency, an organisation that looks after the interests of some of the world’s best and most talented players.
