Leeds United news as Victor Orta transfer claim made and 'extraordinary' Marcelo Bielsa verdict

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Orta holds talks with new winger

Leeds United director Victor Orta has held talks with the agent of winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia according to claims today.

The Rubin Kazan winger is subject of interest from the Premier League and Serie A, with the Russian club prepared to sell the player this summer for the right fee.

Georgian journalist Lasha Kokiashvili says there is great interest in the 20-year-old and states talks have already been completed with Orta, with the player's future soon to be resolved.

Kokiashvili, reporting to have spoken with Kvaratskhelia's agent, said; "Incredibly great interest in the player.

"Every day Rubin is contacted by numerous teams and get information about the player. English, Italian and German teams are interested. They know that Kvara is a top talent and everyone want him.

"A conversation with the Leeds United Sports Director was confirmed by the player’s agent. By July 15th at the most, everything will be over and Kvara will be in the new team."

Extraordinary Bielsa

Former Millwall, Chelsea and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino believes Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa should be named the manager of the year.

Cascarino says Leeds over achieved this season and for that fact Bielsa deserves great praise, while the style of play also impressed the pundit and writer.

Speaking on talkSPORT he said; "He (Bielsa) would be my number one choice. He overachieved with the Leeds team.

"I thought the way Leeds played, they became a far better team at the end of the season than they were at the start.

"I love watching Leeds. From the opening game when they lost 4-3 against Liverpool I thought they were going to be a roller coaster.

"By the end of the season, I was like ‘They’re tough to play against.’ Bielsa improved his team a hell of a lot. His achievements were extraordinary."

Meslier is being watched

Head of the Yvon Pouliquen Foot Conseil player agency, Yvon Pouliquen has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain are watching Illan Meslier following his debut Premier League campaign.

Speaking to Le Telegramme, as quoted by InsideFutbol, Pouliquen stated: “PSG are watching, but Illan’s goal is to play, especially at his age."

“He has just had his first season in the Premier League, he will have to confirm [his level] in the second.

“Going to PSG to take over from [Keylor] Navas in a year or two, and not play, what’s the point?"
