Leeds United news as Rodrigo opens on on Raphinha relationship

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Friday, October 8.

Rodrigo opens up on Raphinha relationship

Raphinha has already won admirers throughout the Premier League, but it turns out his biggest fan is someone who shares his dressing room.

The Brazilian’s teammate Rodrigo has played his national football for Spain, but was born in Brazil, and the two have formed a bond in Leeds during the pandemic.

Rodrigo said: “We establish a really good relationship between each other and between our families since last year, especially because we couldn’t do nothing in [the] lockdown situation, so we spent a lot of time together.

He added: “This good relationship outside of the field transferred to the field, so we understand each other really well and I’m really happy for him, for the national team, for what he’s doing here and for the guy he is because he is a brilliant person also.”

Costa caught in travel nightmare

Helder Costa is currently on loan with Valencia from Leeds and has been enduring rather than enjoying the experience.

He has barely featured for the Spanish side and according to reports he has failed to impress when on the field.

Now, things are even messier for the 27-year-old winger, who was in the middle of flying out to meet up with his national team, Angola, during the international, when he had to turn back.

According to Sport Witness, during a stop-over in Germany he learned the pilot had tested positive for Covid, so he was flown back to Spain to be tested. His result came back negative, but it was too late for him to meet up with Angola.

Instead he’s back in training with Valencia.

Life after Leeds for Patrick Kisnorbo

Australian Patrick Kosnorbo was a fan favourite after signing for Leeds at the end of the 2008/09 season, being named the Player of the Season in his first term.

However, a ruptured Achilles tendon saw him miss almost an entire season, before returning to play sporadically, until a major knee injury more or less ended his Leeds career.

We tracked him down to see what he had been up to and it turned out he had returned to Australia, played for Melbourne City, then became a coach, leading Melbourne City to a trophy.

Kisnorbo has been credited with creating a side that was very much in his image - determined and full of fighting spirit.
