Leeds United news as Raphinha leads squad's Kalvin Phillips messages following England victory

Here are this morning's latest Leeds United headlines on Wednesday, June 30.

Leeds United squad send Phillips messages

Kalvin Phillips' dreams of Euro 2020 success are very much alive after he again played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday's 2-0 win over Germany.

England have booked a quarter-final date in Rome against Ukraine on Saturday night after goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane secured the Three Lions' first tournament win over Germany since 1966.

Phillips' England team-mate Sterling said the Whites man was an 'animal' in midfield, while the Leeds United academy graduate's Elland Road pals also had plenty of messages for him.

'My boy', Raphinha posted in reply to an Instagram post celebrating the win.

'What a player', posted Sam Greenwood, while Stuart Dallas replied with grinning and heart emojis.

'That's my boy', said Leif Davis. 'Class Kalv', posted Joe Gelhardt, with Gjanni Alioski also replying with emojis.

Phillips praise in England player ratings

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips started his fourth consecutive game for England at a major tournament in the Three Lions' 2-0 win versus Germany at Wembley Stadium.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring at an anxious Wembley with 15 minutes remaining, before Harry Kane added another with five minutes to play.

Kalvin Phillips was praised for his tempo-dictating role throughout the match.

Touching Phillips tribute

Kalvin Phillips' first act upon reaching the dressing room following yet another clean sheet and another win in England colours was to pay tribute to his late grandmother.

Granny Val - synonymous with Leeds United's Amazon documentary 'Take Us Home' - sadly passed away earlier this year, a woman who had a profound impact on the Kalvin Phillips who pulls on a white shirt for England and Leeds United.

Phillips revealed he played with 'Granny Val' printed onto his boots as England toiled, but ultimately defeated Germany by two goals to nil at Wembley Stadium.
