Leeds United news as Pablo Hernandez makes heartwarming Elland Road vow as club name departures

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Thursday 27th May 2021.

Pablo's promise

Leeds United's departing icon Pablo Hernandez has given a heartfelt final interview to the club's official media channel, bidding farewell to Leeds supporters in his own words.

While he was disappointed Elland Road could not be full to the brim for his goodbye against West Bromwich Albion, he and Gaetano Berardi have expressed their gratitude for the time spent, moments shared and love received at Leeds.

"From now I [will] support Leeds from Spain, from where I am.

"From the TV, from the screen I try to give all my support to the players and the club."

Leeds' physical dominance

Leeds United's major advantage over their Premier League opponents this season has been their immense physical fitness.

Not only have they been one of the division's highest pressing outfits when out of possession, the team have routinely covered more ground than every other side.

In 37 of their 38 matches, Leeds ran further than their opponent, and new data from Opta's statisticians shows the average distance run per matchday across all Premier League teams.

Unsurprisingly throughout 2020/21, per match Leeds ran further on average than any other side - writes Jamie Kemp of Opta Sports.

Scholars who will be leaving Leeds United are: Emmanuel Amissah, Jimiel Chikukwa, William Fewster, Ethan Kachosa, Samuel Leverett, Aaron Pilkington, Maximus Rigby and Cooper Skerry.

In a statement, the club expressed their thanks for the players' efforts during the time at Leeds United.
