Leeds United news as McKinstry tipped for the top and Poveda 'dream' revealed

Leeds United morning headlines Thursday 11 November 2021:

McKinstry tipped for the top by former coach

Leeds United's 19--year-old Scottish midfielder, Stuart McKinstry is currently with the Scottish U21s for the first time, as his form for Leeds U23's has impressed the international set-up.

One of his coaches from former club Motherwell isn't surprised to see the Scot doing so well and has tipped McKinstry to reach the top.

"I'm sure Stuart will do wonderful things and become a household name in the next three or four years - but I don't want to put too much pressure on the young man!

“He'll do well because of his attitude."

Poveda tells of 'dream come true'

Ian Poveda scored his first professional goal at the weekend as he had what was widely regarded as the best game of his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers.

The Leeds loanee made an assist for Ben Brereton Diaz before he scored himself and in an interview with Rovers TV, he called it a 'dream come true'.

“It was a very special day for me, very emotional," he said.

"To score, assist and get Man of the Match, it’s a moment that I dreamed of the night before, thankfully it came true.

"The team was outstanding against a great side. The lads did amazing to bounce back from the midweek defeat to Fulham. We stuck at it, the manager had faith in us and was driving us on."

Bridges reveals Leeds European lessons

Ex-Leeds United striker Michael Bridges has spoken on a podcast, detailing his experiences with the club on their European adventures as they reached the semi final of the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.

Bridges stated that the club had been 'naïve' in how they coped with dirty-tactics on long away trips.

"We didn't take a security team with us and it was incredible whenever you went to Russia, the amount of fire alarms that went off and room service you got delivered in the middle of the night to keep you awake, it was just frightening.

"They did everything possible to keep you awake."
