Leeds United news as Liam Cooper summoned to emergency meeting amid Super League chaos

Here are this evening's latest Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, April 20.

Liam Cooper summoned to captain's meeting

The fallout from the Super League plans continues to rumble, with the Daily Mail reporting that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has called an emergency meeting between the 20 Premier League captains to discuss the proposal.

Henderson's Liverpool side are of course one of the six Premier League teams involved in the plan, meaning that this meeting will be significant as it will feature representatives from both sides of the argument, unlike today's Premier League meeting which excluded Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal.

The Mail say the meeting is set to see the players discuss a way forward as they will be under the microscope this weekend, just like James Milner was when he was interviewed after Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Leeds.

Cooper is currently serving a three-match suspension following his red card at Manchester City last weekend. Luke Ayling wore the captain's armband for the clash against Liverpool.

Premier League hits out at Super League

The Premier League has vowed to use 'all actions available' to stop the Super League proposal from becoming a reality as they issued a strongly-worded statement after meeting with Leeds United and the other 13 Premier League clubs not involved in the venture.

In the latest development in a saga which has dominated both the front and back pages since Sunday afternoon, the Premier League says that the 14 clubs present at the meeting 'unanimously and vigorously rejected the plans for the competition'.

Crisis talks were held with Premier League chief executive Richard Masters this morning to decipher a plan of action after the 'big six' announced they were joining the breakaway league on Sunday.

Moments missed

Leeds United drew 1-1 with Liverpool in the Premier League at Elland Road on Monday under a cloud of anger and acrimony around the birth of The Super League, leading to plenty of moments that the television cameras missed.

From the Leeds-on-Leeds action in midfield between James Milner and Kalvin Phillips to Victor Orta's latest director's box moments there was plenty to go at.
