Leeds United news as Kalvin Phillips social media hint emerges amid injury fears

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, May 19.

Kalvin Phillips Instagram post gets fans talking amid injury worries

Kalvin Phillips today visited the AWA Tattoo Studio in Bradford as a picture emerged of the Leeds United midfielder having a tattoo to get fans talking on social media amid fears he may miss this weekend's final-day clash with West Brom.

Phillips had tweeted on social media following the game that he was looking forward to playing in front of fans at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon but there had been fears over his fitness for the game after he was seen limping following the 2-0 win at Southampton on Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on Phillips after the game as Pascal Struijk came on for him at St Mary's at the interval.

"I chose Pascal to play in that sector. Because we had to play very in front,” Bielsa said in response to a question on whether or not the sub was made because of an injury.

"And I thought Pascal could take on board the game more.

"In any case, we missed the way Phillips distributes the ball in the second half."

Liam Cooper reacts as skipper and Robin Koch off to Euro 2020

UEFA Euro 2020 is just around the corner, with squads for the 24 participating nations being released each day now.

Pascal Struijk was not named in either of Belgium or Netherlands' EURO 2020 squads, despite being eligible for both countries, however his centre-back partners have received good news ahead of the tournament which kicks off in less than a month.

Liam Cooper and Robin Koch have been named in Scotland's and Germany's squads respectively.

Cooper will take part in an historic Scotland camp, which secured passage to the Euros following a nail-biting penalty shootout victory over Serbia in Belgrade last November.

And the Leeds skipper responded to being named in his country's squad by tweeting: "Every kids (sic) dream! Let’s go make the nation proud."

Graeme Souness believes Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds have 'defied logic'

Marcelo Bielsa's Premier League achievements with Leeds United this season 'defy logic', according to Graeme Souness.

Prior to the Whites' Tuesday evening clash at Southampton the former Liverpool and Scotland man was effusive in his praise for Bielsa's approach this term, earmarking the Argentine for manager of the season honours.

"They've been the best watch [this season] for me," he told Sky Sports. "They play a brand of football that you can't help but enjoy.

"There's an honesty about them. They're a young group that prior to this year you're thinking these are not Premier League players but to a man, they've stood up and look as if they belong in this league.

"Some of their football has been fantastic and I'd go as far to say that he'd be my manager/coach of the year.

"The football he's got this group of players playing defies logic when you look at where those players were before."
