Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, June 2.
Phillips backed to offer something better than England rivals
Kalvin Phillips offers something more special than Jordan Henderson or Declan Rice for England.
That is the view of his Leeds United team-mate Patrick Bamford, who has backed his Elland Road colleague to be in the zone for England at Euro 2020
"Every time he goes out there, he gives 100 per cent,” he told Sky Sports.
"I've seen the way that he's grown as a player and he's turned into one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.
"Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice are top players, which shows the strength, but I think that Kalvin can definitely offer something special to that England squad.
"Nothing really fazes him to be honest. He's a really laid-back kind of lad, in terms of not letting the pressure get too much for him. But when it's game time, you're not taking him out the zone."
Erling Haaland remembers his Leeds roots as Dom Matteo shows off touching gift
Former Leeds United skipper Dominic Matteo has thanked Alfie-Inge Haaland and his son Erling for sending him a signed shirt and message of support.
Matteo, who spent four seasons at Elland Road between 2000 and 2004, underwent surgery on a brain tumour in November 2019, admitting last year that he was lucky to be alive after successfully completing his treatment.
While Matteo and Haaland senior did not play together at Elland Road, with the Norwegian leaving the club shortly before the Scotland international's arrival in the summer of 2000, their Leeds United bond is clear.
"Boss Suprise from the postie this morning," Matteo tweeted on Wednesday, showing off a Borussia Dortmund shirt that was signed by Erling and Alfie, with the message: 'Stay strong!'
Leeds United's Romain Perraud consequences as major change occurs at Brest
Leeds United's longest-running transfer link of this summer has already been that of French full-back Romain Perraud.
The 23-year-old is currently contracted to Stade Brest until 2025, having signed an extension earlier this year, however, that did not appear to be a stumbling block when links first arose, courtesy of The Athletic.
With Ezgjan Alioski's contract having less than 30 days left to run and a decision not yet made on the new offer tabled to the Macedonian, Leeds have been forced to a contingency plan in the event of the 29-year-old's departure.
This season, Alioski has predominantly featured at left-back, playing more regularly than a whole host of first-team players.
Nonetheless, the opinion of supporters and those within the club, is that Leeds United need an upgrade in that position.
Any move for Perraud is said to cost around the £15 million mark, not an insurmountable fee for a club in Leeds' position.
This week though, Brest have seen forward-thinking and well-liked coach Olivier Dall'Oglio depart for Montpellier.
