Leeds United news as Jose Mourinho hails 'perfectly integrated' Diego Llorente after comeback

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Friday, April 21.

Jose Mourinho hails 'perfectly integrated' Diego Llorente after Roma comeback

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho now believes that Leeds United loanee Diego Llorente has been 'perfectly integrated' into his squad after their Europa League comeback.

The Serie A side overcame a 1-0 defeat in their quarter-final first leg against Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord by netting twice in the second half before finding another two goals in extra time to win 4-1 and send them through to play against Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals.

After the win, Mourinho was delighted with his side and highlighted Llorente, who has started the last three league matches and played 72 minutes last night before being subbed off.

"Of course [Llorente is] important. He needs to grow. Llorente already has a great deal of experience. He needed time to learn how to play with us.

"When our game arrived it was weird for him. Now he already plays with stability and is perfectly integrated."

Leeds United's relegation rivals Everton receive major boost ahead of tense run-in

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is edging closer to a return after featuring in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Chester at Finch Farm.

Calvert-Lewin has spent 12 weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, which he sustained during Everton's 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sean Dyche's debut in February.

The 26-year-old played 70 minutes against Chester, but was unable to score as the Toffees lost 1-0 to the sixth-tier outfit. Toffees boss Sean Dyche confirmed on Thursday that the friendly was arranged with Calvert-Lewin in mind.

The worrying issue Leeds United can only solve with time they don't have

Leeds United have been found out. Defensively, at least. Although it's not actually their fault. The timing couldn't be any worse for the Whites, especially now that they've squandered numerous chances to drag themselves away from the threat of relegation.

Having conceded 18 goals over their last five matches - the most of any team in that period -, they can also now boast that they own the worst defensive record in the Premier League (not that they'll want to).

The key Leeds are missing to solving their woes at the back has been out of their hands for the entire season - mainly because he's been in their injury room instead. Last season's defensive statistics are dominated by one name - Stuart Dallas. A player that has heard absolute no chatter about him this season whatsoever because he's been unable to play with his leg injury that has kept him out for close to a year now.
