Leeds United news as Jamie Carragher 'worried' for Whites January transfer target

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines on Thursday, October 6.

Jamie Carragher worried for Leeds United January transfer target

Former Liverpool defender and pundit Jamie Carragher has said he's "very worried" about Leeds United January transfer target and Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.

The American was left on the bench for the full 90 minutes of the Blues' 3-0 Champions League win and both Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz looked good acting as wingers.

Pulisic fell down the pecking order under former manager Thomas Tuchel and was promised a new future under Graham Potter but has played just 12 minutes under the former Brighton boss.

Speaking on CBS Sports' Champions League Show, Carragher admitted he believes the most the 24-year-old can get is limited minutes due to the amount of attacking players at Stamford Bridge.

“Where we have been for the last two years, in terms of his Chelsea career. Of course, the manager at Chelsea changes quite a lot. You always think, ‘okay, you are going to have a new chance to prove something and play differently’.

“But we haven’t seen much of him already and it’s early days for Graham Potter. Tuchel didn’t use him too much. The new manager, certainly during these early games, so I think it’s a little worrying for Americans, in terms of the World Cup.

“We are talking for England as well about getting players up to speed for the World Cup and it doesn’t seem like Pulisic is going to be at his best, in terms of fitness, energy, sharpness and rhythm going into the World Cup, so I think it’s very worrying for him.

“I don’t see how he’s going to get the games. There are so many players in those attacking positions. The most he’s going to get is minutes coming off the bench and that won’t be enough for him to show his best for the national team at the World Cup.”

Leeds United 'target' Bamba Dieng 'cried with rage' after 'complicated summer' as next steps discussed

The curious case surrounding Bamba Dieng became one of the most intriguing stories of transfer deadline day. Dieng looked set to jet to Leeds to complete a transfer to the Premier League after agreeing personal terms with the Whites.

Meanwhile, Leeds United were in the process of allowing Daniel James to leave for Fulham on a season-long loan. In the first twist of a rollercoaster saga, OGC Nice hijacked United's bid, leaving Dieng's private jet unmoved on the runway in the South France.

He rushed to Nice to sign on the dotted line but failed his medical in a dramatic turn of events. The transfer wasn't necessarily dead as Nice had the chance to sign the Senegal international by activating the 'joker rule'.

Barcelona's Raphinha labelled 'the worst' as ex-Leeds United star slammed by Italian media

Former Leeds United winger Raphinha has been put to the sword by the Italian media after his poor performance for Barcelona against Inter Milan in the Champions League last night.

The Brazilian swapped Elland Road for the Nou Camp in the summer transfer window but has struggled to adjust to his new club, scoring just once in his first nine games.

The Spanish giants dropped to third in Group C after their 1-0 defeat, sitting only above Czech club Viktoria Plzen and off the pace of Bayern Munich and Inter above them.
