Leeds United news as Jamie Carragher tells England what they should do with Kalvin Phillips

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Monday, June 21.

Carragher drops Phillips from England XI

Jamie Carragher has dropped Kalvin Phillips from his proposed England XI to face the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

The Leeds United midfielder has started the previous two Euro 2020 games but has been criticised for a lack of creativity following the Three Lions' 0-0 draw with Scotland.

Carragher, naming his England XI, has dropped Phillips for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, with Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire also coming into the team.

“If Jordan Henderson is not involved on Tuesday, the question will have to be asked whether it made sense to include him in the squad. Give the Liverpool captain an hour alongside Declan Rice and gauge where his level is,” Carragher wrote in his latest Telegraph column.

“That does not mean Kalvin Phillips won’t come back in for the knockout stage, but will at least allow Southgate to be clearer about his options for the rest of the competition.”

Raphinha £5m reduction

Raphinha's debut campaign in the Premier League was a tremendous one.

With six goals and nine assists to his name, the Brazilian's influence was hard to ignore - both for Leeds United fans and neutral observers.

Unfortunately, players who light up the division in a similar vein to Raphinha are often targeted by the menacing and often carnivorous 'Big Six'.

Clubs lower down the Premier League table demand big fees, knowing the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea can afford to pay if they desperately wish to lure away a prized asset.

This summer - despite no indication from any party that Raphinha will be leaving Elland Road - there promises to be persistent 'links' purporting a move to pastures new for the 24-year-old.

Noa Lang audition

After an outstanding campaign in Belgium last season for Club Brugge, scoring 17 goals and producing 11 assists, 21-year-old winger Noa Lang is certainly a man in demand this summer.

Leeds United are just one of the clubs reportedly interested in signing the player during the close season.

Lang began his footballing career at Feyenoord’s youth academy before moving to Eredivisie rivals Ajax where he would go on to make his senior debut before moving to Club Brugge on a season-long loan last summer.

In his solitary season in the Jupiler Pro League, the forward was able to add a league title to his CV and Lang excelled during his loan spell, with his purchase option logically and swiftly activated by Club Brugge.
