Leeds United news as Jack Harrison fee increases, Liverpool price themselves out as deal unlikely

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines for Friday June 11, 2021.

Harrison price tag

Leeds United signing Jack Harrison from Manchester City this summer is something of a formality.

The 24-year-old winger is a part of the furniture now at Elland Road after three years on loan from the Premier League champions, with that loan deal set to become permanent in the next few weeks.

While it doesn't appear to be a hitch of any sorts, there are fresh reports Leeds will actually have to pay more than they had planned for Harrison.

The Daily Mail report the transfer fee wanted by Man City has risen top £13m. Leeds had an option to buy at £8m but after the delays to the 2019/20 campaign because of coronavirus and the delayed start to the last season, the loan deal had to be renegotiated and now the Whites will face a bigger bill to land Harrison.

The winger has already proven that he's a snip at that price and Leeds are expected to finalise the deal in the next few weeks.

Wilson deal unlikely

Speaking of wingers. Leeds have been linked to a number of wide men already this summer, one of those being Liverpool's Harry Wilson.

The Welsh international may have struggled to break into the Reds first team, but has excelled on loan wherever he has gone, including Cardiff City this past season.

Leeds have been linked with Wilson in the past, but according to the Express have now been put off by the transfer fee demanded by Liverpool.

The Reds want £17m for Wilson, with the Whites prepared to walk away from any proposed deal at that price.

Marcelo Bielsa appears keen to add another strike option to his ranks, with Leeds taking their time to ensure they find the right fit at the right price.

Return of the bromance

Kalvin Phillips and Ben White have reunited their close friendship on England duty, as the European Championships prepare to get underway today.

It is a reunion which has left Leeds fans beaming; two protagonists of the 2019/20 promotion-winning campaign, joining up once more for their country.

In a brand-new access-all-areas training video at England's St George's Park base, the inseparable pair have been spotted laughing and joking as they play table-tennis.

Phillips and White - along with other members of the Leeds United squad - were pictured on holiday together at the end of their successful 2019/20 season, indicating a close friendship was built over the course of the season.

Based on behind-the-scenes footage of England's Euro 2020 preparations, it appears the duo have picked up where they left off.
