Leeds United news as ex-Man Utd striker holds his hands up to Whites gaffe

Here are this evening's latest Leeds United headlines on Wednesday, May 26.

Leeds the surprise package

Former Premier League and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has hailed Leeds United as the surprise package of the season.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham player had the Whites down as one of the favourites for relegation at the start of the season and has been impressed with how they went about their business.

When asked about his surprise package of the campaign, Berbatov told Betfair: "I would say Leeds. At beginning of the season, I thought they were among relegation contenders, but they’ve played good, entertaining football.

"They didn’t fear anyone and played some good football."

Leeds United already boast six players who will be heading to EURO 2020 with their respective nations: Robin Koch, Ezgjan Alioski, Diego Llorente, Tyler Roberts, Mateusz Klich and Liam Cooper.

A seventh Whites representative at this summer's tournament appeared to hang in the balance during the closing stages of Leeds United's 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road.

Sliding in on one of the Baggies' players, Kalvin Phillips landed awkwardly, seemingly dislocating his shoulder in the process.

The England international was helped from the field as the final whistle blew moments later, but concern was palpable among the club's medical staff over the key midfielder's discomfort.

Raphinha sends transfer message to Liverpool and Manchester United

Leeds United star Raphinha has broken his silence on the rumoured transfer links to Manchester United and Liverpool.

The two rival Premier League clubs have reportedly been keeping a close eye on the Brazilian this season.

Let's be honest, it's hard not to have had an eye on the 24-year-old forward given his stellar performances for the Whites and the way he, just like Marcelo Bielsa's team, have attacked the Premier League this past campaign.

Leeds have not fielded anything like an official approach from either club and neither would they want one, with the former Rennes player a key part of what Bielsa and Leeds are building for the future with four more years to run on his present deal.

The good news for Leeds fans, is Raphinha is in no rush to depart either!
