Leeds United news as ex-Liverpool striker sends Manchester United warning

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday, February 11.

Stan Collymore makes 'confident' Leeds United claim ahead of Man United clash

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Leeds United could hold Manchester United to a second draw in four days despite not yet finding a permanent manager after Jesse Marsch's exit earlier this week.

Michael Skubala was in charge of the dugout when the two sides drew 2-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night thanks to goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville.

But despite Erik ten Hag's side's fantastic form so far this season, Collymore can still see the Whites getting a good result backed by their vocal fanbase.

"Obviously Man United are heading to Elland Road on Sunday," he told CaughtOffside. "It’s unusual to play the same team back-to-back, but after getting a 2-2 result on Wednesday at Old Trafford, Leeds will feel a lot more confident that they can take at least another point again next time out.

"The crowd will play a huge part too. I think if they can get in United’s faces again and use their physicality, Leeds’ players, who will be desperate to impress whoever their next manager is going to be, could definitely get another draw."

Andoni Iraola makes fresh Leeds United claim after Elland Road links

Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola is still 'focused' on his job with the La Liga side amid reports linking him as the favourite for the vacant Leeds United job.

The Spaniard has reportedly been the Whites' preferred option to take charge after Carlos Corberan committed to West Brom by signing a new contract earlier this week after Jesse Marsch was relieved of his duties.

But Iraola has now seemingly confirmed Leeds' game of chase is finally over after repeatedly confirming that his situation with Vallecano hasn't changed.

"It’s true that there has been noise but my situation hasn’t changed," Union Rayo report him saying at a Saturday press conference.

"Neither at the level of contract nor at the level of commitment, I’m still focused on Rayo. There have been no changes this week.

"I don’t think the team is affected by this."

Marcus Rashford told he 'wouldn't stand a chance' against Luke Ayling by former Man United man

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has claimed that Marcus Rashford "wouldn't stand a chance" against Luke Ayling if he played on the same side as the Leeds United defender.

Leeds and Man United take part in their second Premier League clash in the space of four days when the two sides meet at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon. A sensational goal from Willy Gnonto after just 55 seconds was the pick of the action as both teams took home a point.

The Whites will be hoping that an Elland Road home advantage can help them push for all three points but know that it will not be easy against an in-form Man United side. Rashford is the top scorer for Erik ten Hag's side this season and added to his tally during the second-half on Wednesday night.
