Leeds United news as director Peter Lowy's family wealth discovered and Orta conundrum pondered

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines on Friday 28th May 2021.

Lowy wealth

Leeds United appointed three new directors to the club's board prior to the final game of the season versus West Bromwich Albion.

Australian businessman Peter Lowy was in attendance at Elland Road for the 3-1 victory, and participated in interviews at the club's end-of-season awards ceremony.

Congenial and affable, the Westfield shopping centre magnate charmed an online audience with his appearance alongside former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford.

It has emerged on Australian TV news, that the well-known Lowy family - renowned for their involvement in the FFA (Football Federation of Australia) are headed up by the ninth-richest man in Australia.

Peter Lowy - the new Leeds United director - counts his father as one of the country's wealthiest men.

Forbes estimate Frank Lowy's wealth to be $5.3 billion.

Cunha's dream number

Leeds United's hunt for reinforcements this summer may have taken them to the Bundesliga once more.

Despite being burned by their Jean-Kevin Augustin experiment, the club have been linked with a move for Hertha BSC's versatile forward Matheus Cunha.

While a move of any sort remains as yet out of the question, should Gjanni Alioski move on at the end of June, Cunha may be in line to fill the vacant No. 10 shirt.

Orta's transfer battle

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta could see himself embroiled in a bitter head-to-head with former colleague and mentor Monchi.

The Sevilla sporting director is on the lookout for a new left-back for Julen Lopetegui's squad, and is renowned for his shrewd dealing in the transfer market.

Across Europe, Monchi and Orta will have been scouring the options available to them, potentially circling the same players as Champions League Sevilla require a back-up and Leeds United require a first-choice.
