Leeds United news as defender provides three-word update from training camp

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, 6, December.

Struijk provides update from training camp

Pascal Struijk has provided Leeds United supporters with a three-word update from the Whites warm-weather training camp in Valencia.

Minus seven players that were absent through injury or international commitments, the Whites jetted off to the Oliva Nova resort just off the Mediterranean coast in preparation for a vital period of festive fixtures.

Jesse Marsch's side are set to face Elche on Thursday whilst away, in what will be their first match since the 4-3 defeat at Tottenham before the World Cup-enforced break.

And Struijk took to Instagram in order to update fans on events from Spain. Partnered alongside images of the Dutchman taking part in gym and training sessions, he added the caption "back to work."

Struijk, who is believed to be nearing a contract extension at Elland Road, was named in Louis van Gaal's preliminary Dutch squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Though, he would miss out on a place in the final 26-man party.

Leeds see back-to-back fixtures moved

Leeds United have seen back-to-back Premier League fixtures rescheduled ahead of their return to top-flight action this month.

Jesse Marsch's side currently find themselves sitting only two points above the relegation zone in 15th, with a vital winter period awaiting the Whites.

Fans are likely to be frustrated by news that two of their February kick-offs will be rescheduled after the Premier League announced which games have been selected for live television coverage.

Leeds' trip to the City Ground face Nottingham Forest had, initially, been pencilled in to take place on Saturday, February, 4th. However, it will now kick off the following day at 14:00 and be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

A second 14:00 Sunday kick-off lies ahead the following weekend, as they welcome fierce rivals Manchester United to Elland Road. That fixture had, also, been originally expected to take place on Saturday, February, 11th, but is now scheduled to kick-off on Sunday, 12th, February at 14:00. Sky Sports will, again, show it live.

Leeds United's upcoming friendly schedule

Leeds United will resume their Premier League campaign in just over three weeks time when they host Manchester City at Elland Road on Wednesday, 28 December.

Jesse Marsch and co went into the pre-World Cup break on the back of some decent form, which saw them pick up dramatic wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth.

With the World Cup now firmly into the knockout stages, Leeds have begun to ramp up their preparations for the return of the Premier League.

The Whites, who are currently training out in Spain, play their first winter pre-season friendly on Thursday against Elche, who sit bottom of the La Liga table.

After the clash against Elche, Leeds return home to Elland Road the following week to play another friendly against Spanish opposition in the form of Real Sociedad on Friday, 16 December.
