Leeds United news as Cody Drameh praised after maiden U23s goal follows debut first-team call-up

Here are this evening's Leeds United headlines on Monday, May 3.

Drameh praised after maiden goal

Leeds United prospect defender Cody Drameh made it a bank holiday weekend to remember after he followed up his first senior call-up with a debut goal for the under-23s.

Marcelo Bielsa named the right-back in a first-team Premier League matchday squad for the first time on Saturday, with the 19-year-old earning a place among the substitutes at Brighton & Hove Albion.

While Drameh did not get on for his debut at the Amex Stadium, he played a key part in the under-23s final match of their title-winning, opening the scoring when he tucked away a Rodrigo pass on 22 minutes.

Speaking on the LUTV's commentary, former Whites defender Ben Parker praised the former Fulham youngster's progress this season.

“I’m sure the players are delighted for him but you won’t find two more delighted people than ourselves for him getting on the scoresheet," he said.

“We’ve loved watching him all season, he’s a fantastic player. He was on the bench for the first team this weekend which shows his progression.

“The goal caps off a wonderful season from an individual point of view.”

Roberts 'doesn't get' common Whites criticism

Tyler Roberts doesn't understand people suggesting Leeds United will burn out in the latter stages of the season.

The Whites play with a unique style, with Marcelo Bielsa demanding a very intense work ethic from his team.

That's what makes the side so exciting to watch and it's been something they've received plenty of plaudits for.

However, some pundits - most notably perhaps, Tim Sherwood - have suggested that Leeds could 'burn out' because of how hard they are working on and off the ball.

Here's how the Wales international addressed those critics.

Player ratings as U23s sign off in style

Leeds United's title-winning under-23s side completed their Premier League 2 Division Two campaign in style on Monday afternoon as they signed off with a 5-2 win over Burnley at Thorp Arch.

Cody Drameh opened the scoring on 22 minutes before the game exploded into life in the second half. Goals from Niall Huggins and Crysensio Summerville, plus two penalties from Sam Greenwood completed another emphatic victory as Mark Jackson's side claimed an 18th win of the season.

Greenwood's brace ensured that he pipped Joe Gelhardt to the title of Leeds' leading scorer this season and ensured he scored highly in Joe Donnohue's player ratings.
