Leeds United news as Brighton slap new huge price tag on Ben White following Euro 2020 call-up

Here are this morning's latest Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, June 8.

Ben White price tag soars

Leeds United fans were quick to declare their pride at seeing former loan star Ben White earn the final place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2020 squad on Monday, after the defender was confirmed as Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement.

White remains a firm favourite among Leeds fans for his brilliant contribution during the 2019-20 promotion campaign when he played every minute of their Championship-winning season.

The club tried and failed to seal a permanent move for him last summer, eventually opting to sign Robin Koch and Diego Llorente after Brighton knocked back a series of bids.

White's future is again in the spotlight following his England recognition and Brighton have reportedly reacted by slapping a whopping £50million price tag on him, according to the Mail.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in him.

Ayling's brilliant Phillips reaction

Kalvin Phillips has revealed his Leeds United team-mate Luke Ayling's brilliant reaction to finding out the Thorp Arch graduate had been named in England's Euro 2020 squad.

Phillips' place in Gareth Southgate's final 26-man squad was confirmed last Tuesday, with the 25-year-old overcoming a dislocated shoulder in Leeds' final match of the season to get the nod ahead of his first taste of a major tournament with the Three Lions.

The Leeds midfielder won his eighth cap on Sunday when he played the first 45 minutes of England's final warm-up match against Romania and will now look to impress Southgate enough to be included in the starting line-up when the Three Lions' Euro 2020 tilt finally gets underway on Sunday afternoon against Croatia.

Phillips has enjoyed huge support from his Elland Road team-mates in one of the Premier League's most tightly-knit squads, with Ayling quick to represent his colleague and friend.

Here's what he had to say.

Keane and Richard praise Phillips

Roy Keane and Micah Richards have talked up Kalvin Phillips and insisted the Leeds United midfielder is more than capable of starting for England at the European Championships.

The Whites midfielder is in contention to start the Three Lions' opening match on Sunday against Croatia, with Jordan Henderson unfit to start.

The Liverpool captain made his injury comeback against Romania on Sunday, replacing Phillips after 45 minutes.

Gareth Southgate has put his trust in Phillips during Henderson's absence, starting four of the last five matches, and he could play alongside Declan Rice in their opening group match.

Whilst other pundits have questioned what Phillips offers, Keane and Richards showed their appreciation for Leeds' star man.

Here's what they had to say.
