Leeds United news as Ben Foster makes 'unjust' claim after Watford victory

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, October 3.

Foster makes honest admission

Ben Foster has admitted Watford deserved to be beaten by Leeds United after Saturday's 1-0 win at Elland Road.

The Whites ended their winless start to the season with a dominant display which should have yielded a larger margin of victory.

“I thought if we would have [equalised] it would have been papering over the cracks," Foster told BBC Sport.

“We were very poor today. We didn’t have a shot on target, so can’t expect to come away with anything.

“They were very sharp and worked their socks off but if you allow them to do that it’s going to be a long day. If that goal had been given it would have been very unjust to the overall picture.

“I think we’re a better team than what we are showing. We were very poor today – miles away from it. We haven’t had a shot on target and didn’t lay a glove on them.”

Leeds win ends Bielsa misconception

Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United showed signs of their best form at home to Watford on Saturday afternoon.

United ran out 1-0 winners over an insipid Hornets side, who struggled throughout the match with Leeds' intensity, both in their own and Leeds' third of the pitch.

The Whites dominated the midfield, and consequently the ball. Mateusz Klich and Stuart Dallas had free reign to roam, with Juraj Kucka, Ozan Tufan and Moussa Sissoko electing not to track the Leeds duo's routine forays into the channels to facilitate triangular passing sequences as well as neat give-and-goes.

Bielsa's side played with a familiarity only akin to hearing again a once-favourite, long-forgotten song.

Each flowing move, particularly in the first half, seemed to galvanise the team into developing another immediately after its breakdown.
