Leeds United news as Andrea Radrizzani handed eleventh hour disappointment in Italy negotiations

Salernitana solution

Leeds United chief Andrea Radrizzani has been given a definitive answer on his bid to purchase Serie A club US Salernitana.

The newly-promoted Italian side were given a June 25 deadline for the club to change hands due to previous owner Claudio Lotito's involvement with Lazio.

Lotito's representatives submitted paperwork to the FIGC (Italy's football association) at 22:25 on Friday evening, as per Football Italia, which placed the club into the hands of a trust.

This buys Salernitana some time to negotiate with interested parties for a further six months, without the conflict of interest arising through Lotito's involvement with Lazio.

It does mean Radrizzani has an additional period to negotiate with the Salernitana trust, however the Leeds United chairman has set a July 3 ultimatum for the trust to accept the offer he has tabled - which appears unlikely.

Firpo rumours

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have linked Leeds United with a move for Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo.

The former Real Betis wide-man is supposedly keen to leave Spain this summer, with AC Milan emerging as a potential destination.

"Junior does not want to continue in LaLiga and this has been communicated by his agents to Barça," claim Mundo Deportivo.

Leeds United were named in the report, although that is likely to do with the fact the club are known to be in the market for a left-back this summer, rather than any concrete links.

La Liga side Celta Vigo are alleged to have made an offer for Firpo, according to Catalunya Radio.

Leeds legend doubts Man City moves

Former Leeds United midfielder Johnny Giles has passed comment on the prospective partnership Jack Grealish could build with Harry Kane if the pair join Manchester City.

Speaking to Off The Ball's The Football Show, Giles doubts the potential £200 million would be a shrewd investment.

“When [Heung-min] Son plays for Spurs, he doesn’t move from that position. He stays on the left-hand side, and that’s what he does. That’s where Harry Kane brings him into the game. You need that in a team, a balance, somebody wide.

“If you go to the match the other day, Grealish made the goal from his wide position, the next minute, he’s gone. Kane can’t find Grealish down the left-hand side if Grealish has disappeared from the position."

Giles was referring to England's 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in their Euro 2020 Group D clash.
