Leeds United news as Amari Miller signs long-term deal at Elland Road amid Junior Firpo links

Here are the latest Leeds United headlines on Monday 28th June 2021.

Amari Miller signs

Leeds United have this evening confirmed the addition of 18-year-old Birmingham City midfielder Amari Miller.

The teenager signs a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, which sees the club complete its first incoming transfer of the summer window.

In a statement on the club's website, Leeds United confirmed Miller's arrival and the intention for him to join up with Mark Jackson's U23 squad for the upcoming 2021/22 campaign.

"Miller becomes Leeds’ first signing of the summer transfer window and will initially link up with Mark Jackson’s Under-23 side, who will feature in Premier League 2 Division 1 in the upcoming campaign, after winning promotion last season."

Berardi moving on

Former Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has confirmed he is in the process of finding his next move.

Berardi represented Leeds for seven years before departing at the end of the 2020/21 season, making two Premier League appearances versus Southampton and West Bromwich Albion before bidding farewell.

The Italian was highly regarded at Elland Road and remains a fan favourite.

Speaking to Sky Sports News following his departure, Gaetano Berardi for the future.

"I'm still not sure," he said when asked what his next move will be.

"I'm just waiting for some new teams. I'm in talks with some of them, but nothing yet."

Firpo links grow stronger

Various Spanish sources now credit Leeds United with making a €15 million move for Barcelona full-back Junior Firpo.

Interest in the 24-year-old has been reported over the past few days, but revelations in Diario SPORT and from radio station RAC1 suggest Leeds United have won out over Italian giants AC Milan.

Junior would have struggled to oust French international left-back Theo Hernandez at San Siro and is understood to be attracted by the prospect of regular first-team football, hence Leeds United moving forward at the negotiating table.

The move is alleged to have the backing of Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.
