Leeds United news as Alan Smith makes Manchester United statement he knows fans will hate

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Wednesday, April 21.

Radrizzani makes Super League joke

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has made a joke following the collapse of the proposed European Super League.

All of the 'Big Six' in the Premier League - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham - dropped out of the plans on Tuesday evening following nationwide backlash.

Radrizzani, taking to his Twitter page, made a jibe at the expense of the aforementioned six, replying to a tweet with a link to an Instagram photo of 'The Debt League' with the Whites owner simply replying: "The One Day league ?".

Leeds fans didn't need any more reasons to love their owner, but he's given it to them anyway.

Things spotted in Bielsa's office

After Marcelo Bielsa was awarded the LMA Performance of the Week award following Leeds' display at Manchester City, LeedsLive took a look at what we spotted in the manager's office.

Bielsa was pictured with the plaque - and he was also rocking a stubble, a tad fuller than a five-o'clock shadow.

As well as this, there appeared to be a coin dispenser on the Argentine's desk.

Smith makes Leeds and Man Utd comparisons

Alan Smith, formerly of Leeds and Manchester United, has drawn comparisons between two of his old clubs.

The Whites welcome the Manchester-based club to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, and speaking on the visitors' official podcast, Smith made a bold claim.

He said: “You know the passion that both clubs have got and that’s why I loved playing for both clubs. Just because they are very, very similar.

“Leeds fans don’t like me for saying it, but the characteristics of both clubs are very, very similar in terms of the beliefs, the history of the clubs, the people who are involved in it, the styles.

“The passion of the fans is very, very similar. I think that’s why it made my transition quite easy in that first year.

“And you’re surrounded by world-class players, which makes it a little bit easier as well.”

Smith was the last player to make the move from Leeds to their long-time rivals back in 2004, which does make him well placed to draw such similarities.
