Leeds United news as Alan Shearer heaps praise on Whites duo, Rodrigo boost

Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, February 2.

Whites duo praised

Former England captain Alan Shearer have lavished praise on Patrick Bamford, opining that the Leeds United number nine's performance at Leicester 'had everything'.

Bamford netted a goal and served up a selfless assist for Jack Harrison as Leeds delivered a 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium and delivered one of their best wins of the season so far.

The Whites forward ended a four-match scoreless run in the process and won the acclaim of Shearer, who named the Leeds man in his Premier League team of the week.

"This was a brilliant centre-forward’s performance which had everything," said Shearer.." Eleven goals in the Premier League is a great return so far, and there are certainly more to come!"

There was also a place in Shearer's XI for Stuart Dallas, who scored a first-half equaliser against the Foxes.

"Leeds United's versatile midfielder scored a goal as part of a fantastic all-round performance," Shearer added.

Rodrigo optimism

Leeds United forward Rodrigo has issued an optimistic injury update after he limped out of Leeds' 3-1 win at Leicester on Sunday.

The record signing appeared to hurt his groin when he stretched for a pass in the first half at the King Power Stadium. Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that the Spaniard underwent a scan on Monday morning and was a major doubt for the Wednesday night clash against Everton at Elland Road.

The player himself has now issued a message on Instagram describing the problem as a 'minor setback', which hopefully indicates that it is not a serious problem.

Why Leeds didn't sign anyone in the transfer window

Leeds United's deadline day followed the pattern which had been established throughout the entire transfer window with zero new signatures, reports Beren Cross.

There were the three exits, two permanent, of Rafa Mujica, Conor Shaughnessy and Jay-Roy Grot, which Victor Orta will be most pleased with, but no inclination for any additions at Elland Road.

An injury crisis ruling out one or two big names for the season never hit, the team do not look like being in any danger of relegation and yesterday underlined just how impressive they are.

One look at the last two January transfer windows will tell you all you need to know about why this was never going to be busy for Angus Kinnear and the Whites top brass.

Leeds are in action again on Wednesday evening when they host Everton at Elland Road.
