'Leeds United must come up with an answer' - Thomas Frank piles on the pressure after latest Brentford win

Brentford's ruthless post-lockdown run continued on Tuesday night when they came from behind to beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at Griffin Park.

Lee Bowyer's side took an eighth-minute lead in west London and would hold onto this advantage for 67 minutes before Said Benrahama leveld from the spot with quarter of an hour left.

The Bees then secured their fifth straight win since the restart when Ethan Pinnock headed home with five minutes left.

Thomas Frank's side had the advantage of playing before their two automatic promotion rivals in the midweek fixtures, meaning that the three points closed the gap to West Bromwich Albion to two points, while Leeds United are now just three points ahead of the third-placed Bees.

The Baggies host another in-form side in Derby County on Wednesday night, before Leeds take on Stoke City at Elland Road on Thursday.

And with this latest win, Frank was quick to pile the pressure on the top two.

"It's a big win. It's up to West Brom and Leeds to come up with an answer," he said following the victory.

"Of course I will watch Derby against West Brom on Wednesday night, but that's because we are playing them on Saturday.

"Charlton are a good side and fighting for their lives. They are difficult to break down.

"This win was big in terms of how we handled it, managed it and kept going.

"And then you go 1-0 down and that's the worst thing that can happen. This win was big in terms of how we managed it and how we kept going.

"It would be easy to say it was just a matter of time before that winner went in, but I was still extremely happy when it did."

Bonne's first half strike was the first goal that Brentford have conceded since the season restarted last month, with Frank praising his side's ability to respond to their latest challenge.

"We've been talking a lot about what we will do to a setback during a game or if we lose a game and all that. We hadn't conceded in I don't know how many minutes. So we just knew that when we conceded, okay, we need to move on and keep doing what we're doing."

The victory was a club-record sixth successive second tier win, with Frank's men next in action at Derby on Saturday.
