Leeds United move for Daniel James hits a big problem as Man Utd boss delivers verdict on Wales star's future

Daniel James is unlikely to leave Manchester United in this window, despite interest from Leeds United.

Leeds are still believed to keen admirers of the winger's abilities, having dramatically missed out on a move during the final hours of the January transfer window last year.

A deal with Swansea City looked to have been done, only for the Swans to pull the plug on the move at the eleventh hour.

James would go on to become a huge favourite at the Liberty Stadium under Graham Potter, becoming one the standout performers in the Championship with a series of electrifying performances.

A move to Man United followed, but after a promising start, the 22-year old appears to be falling out of favour with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There have been suggestions Leeds will look to launch a fresh bid of around £12m, an amount that was touted as being enough to tempt Man United into a sale this summer.

The Red Devils' high-profile chase for Jadon Sancho has only intensified suggestions that James may well be pushed towards the exit at Old Trafford, but it appears he's likely to stay put - for the time being at least.

The Manchester Evening News claims any kind of deal - on loan or otherwise - is unlikely at this stage, even if a capture for Sancho proves successful.

Solskjaer reportedly still sees James as part of his immediat plans for United, although suggestions that he will be offered a new deal are also believed to be wide of the mark.

Nevertheless, it now looks as though Leeds are once again heading for disappointment in their chase for the winger.
