Here are Leeds United morning headlines for Wednesday, 18 March.

Leeds want to play out this season

Leeds United want to play out the rest of the Championship season if they are able to do so.

The Whites and the Championship’s other 23 clubs have all stated that if possible, they would like to play out the remaining nine rounds of fixtures of the season in order to try and earn their promotion.

Following the coronavirus pandemic, all matches in the Premier League and the English Football League have currently been suspended until April 3.

Kieran Maguire from the University of Liverpool believes that only the “very elite level” of footballers will maintain.

Warnock on why Leeds wouldn’t deserve promotion

Former Whites defender Stephen Warnock believes that it would be unfair to gift Leeds with promotion.

With debate surrounding how the 2019-20 season will be concluded, some reports suggested that a 22-team Premier League could be considered with Leeds and West Bromwich Albion being granted promotion for the 2020-21 campaign.

However, Warnock, who spent two years as a player, says it would be very harsh on the teams in the play-off places if Leeds and West Brom were rewarded.
