Leeds United morning headlines squad to face Fulham is revealed and Poveda must pass Bielsa test

Good morning, Leeds United fans. Here are the morning headlines for Saturday, June 27.

Leeds squad for key Fulham clash

Adam Forshaw, Jean-Kevin Augustin and Kiko Casilla will be the only absentees for Leeds ahead of their crucial Championship clash with Fulham.

Forshaw and Augustin are both out with fitness issues while Illan Meslier will continue as goalkeeper due to Casilla’s ongoing suspension, as highlighted by Leeds Live.

Pablo Hernandez and Barry Douglas are both expected to return to the fold and while Luke Ayling was withdrawn early with injury in Cardiff, there is no indication he won’t be involved here.

Full Leeds squad: Illan Meslier, Luke Ayling, Barry Douglas, Ben White, Liam Cooper, Ian Poveda, Patrick Bamford, Ezgjan Alioski, Tyler Roberts, Stuart Dallas, Helder Costa, Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison, Kalvin Phillips, Elia Caprile, Gaetano Berardi, Kamil Miazek, Pascal Struijk, Robbie Gotts, Leif Davis, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton, Jordan Stevens.

Poveda must pass Bielsa test

Ian Poveda has only made one fleeting substitute appearance since joining Leeds from Manchester City in January but Stuart Dallas has given his insight on how the 20-year-old can play a part in the season run-in.

Northern Ireland international Dallas gave a glowing assessment of Poveda among his arrival at Elland Road and has now spoken of how he can break into the first-team under Marcelo Bielsa.

“He’s a good lad, first and foremost,” said Dallas, via Leeds Live. “He works hard in training. It’s the manager’s decision what he does with him.

“He’s one where you just need to put an arm around him at times and give him a bit of encouragement.

“He knows he’s good enough, he knows he’s got talent, but he just needs to work on extra things and obviously the way we play, you’ve got to work hard.

“He’s got that and sometimes you just need to tell him and make him believe he’s got that.

“He can be a top player, he can be a very good asset to us and he feels as if he’s got a point to prove and coming on in games now, or whether he starts, you’ll start to see his best.”

Whites in race for Ole Romeny

Leeds United are one of ten clubs in the running to sign NEC Nijmegen attacker Ole Romeny this summer.

The Boot Room via Voetbal International claim that Leeds are battling interest from clubs such as Manchester City and Juventus.

Romeny has nine goals in 30 appearances for the Dutch side this campaign with Bologna, Norwich City, Brentford, Willem II, Heerenveen, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Real Sociedad all said to hold an interest.
