Leeds United morning headlines: Jamie Carragher's promising prediction, Rafinha transfer blow

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, September 7.

Carragher offers up promising Leeds verdict

Jamie Carragher has predicted Leeds United to struggle in the Premier League this season at points but he has backed the club to 'establish themselves'.

The Liverpool legend turned pundit will see his former side take on the Whites this weekend in the opener and feels that Leeds could get off to a good start on their return to the Premier League.

Carragher told The Telegraph: "Any team coming up, just stay up. For me, it would be a successful season if they are not involved in a relegation scrap. They have just bought Rodrigo for a few quid so it looks like they might spend a bit of money.

Leeds: 2020/21 season in preview

“I think Leeds will establish themselves. We know Bielsa’s teams start quickly and at times have faded. So you might see Leeds get off to a good start.

"Maybe the second half of the season will be a little more difficult for them. If crowds get into Elland Road in the second half of the season it will be tough going there."

Leeds may struggle to sign Rafinha - reports

Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness ) report that Barcelona midfielder Rafinha has been offered to join up with his cousin Rodrigo at Leeds United.

It’s previously been suggested that the 27-year-old Brazil international, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, was keen to join a Premier League club, with his brother Thiago reportedly set to leave Bayern Munich for Liverpool or Manchester United.

But the latest report also states that Leeds ‘can not financially manage’ meeting Barcelona’s £14m asking price.

Film-maker hints at Take Us Home series two

Lee Hicken, chief executive of ‘Take Us Home’ production company The City Talking, has hinted at a second series.

The first series, which was released last August on Amazon Prime, documented the heartbreak of United’s near-miss on promotion during the 2018-19 campaign.

But with cameras present for the final weeks of last term’s Championship-topping triumph, a new set of episodes ought to have a much happier ending.

He posted updates on his Instagram page with the captions ‘maybe it’s time to complete the story’ and ‘TakeUsHome#2’
