Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, 13 September.
Klopp full of praise for Leeds’ Anfield performance
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is tipping Leeds to dish out some serious Premier League damage this season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost 4-3 to Liverpool on Saturday, despite equalising three times at Anfield.
Klopp said: “I said it before the game and in the game everybody saw it. Leeds performed outstandingly well.
“We respect them a lot and I knew they would cause us problems.
“On top of that we struggled in some defensive situations, obviously, that’s why they scored.”
Asked how much damage he felt Leeds may go on to do at this level, he added: “Damage is the right word.
“I said before the game we will struggle against them because the way they play is just uncomfortable.”
Lineker’s Leeds prediction
Leeds’ display against Liverpool also drew praise from former England striker and Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker.
He took to social media to deliver his verdict on the Whites’ performance at Anfield, as he issued a confident prediction about Leeds for the forthcoming season.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “It’s 3-3 as LUFC Klich again. They’re going to be a really great watch this season”.
Leeds eye Gallagher deal
Leeds want to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on a permanent deal, according to the Daily Mail.
The England Under-21 midfielder is due to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge before being allowed out on loan, but Leeds are so convinced that he will fit into Bielsa’s style that they are wanting to buy him.
However, the report also suggests that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard rates Gallagher highly and is unlikely to sanction a permanent switch.
