Leeds United morning headlines as Whites set to pip Chelsea and Man City to in-demand starlet

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines on Saturday, May 16.

Leeds have offer accepted for starlet

Leeds United have had a bid accepted for Linfield’s 16-year-old sensation Charlie Allen, according to Football Insider.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and Rangers are said to be among the clubs who have been tracking the teenager.

But Leeds have reportedly stolen a march in the race to sign the Irishman, having agreed a £300,000 fee with Linfield.

Allen broke into the Linfield first team at 15, becoming the club’s youngster ever debutant.

Whelan praises chief executive Kinnear

Noel Whelan has hailed Angus Kinnear for making Leeds a “very, very honest club”.

The chief executive was behind the decision to refund supporters who purchased season tickets and individual match tickets for games that will now be played behind closed doors.

The club insists that no fan will be out of pocket and Whelan was pleased with their response.

“Leeds United have become a very, very honest club now and business, that’s a nice side of it – they’re not keeping people’s money, they know how important it is for some people to have that money in their bank right now," he told Football Insider.

"They know the implications of the money that’s being put into the club by the fans and if they can’t have it – but I’ve seen the majority of them saying keep the money and we’ll put it towards our season ticket next year.

"That’s how positive they feel about the club and how it’s being ran.”

Leeds keen on Osayi-Samuel

Leeds are keeping tabs on QPR forward Bright Osayi-Samuel ahead of a potential summer move, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has impressed in west London this season but his future seems to lie away from Loftus Road.

Osayi-Samuel has earned a string of admirers for his performances since the turn of the year.

And Leeds are said to be ready to compete with the likes of Southampton, West Brom and Club Brugge  for his signature.

Osayi-Samuel is a versatile forward but has mostly been deployed on the right flank this term.
