Leeds United morning headlines as Whites learn Buendia price tag, Ben White transfer boost

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, August 2.

Norwich set price tag for Buendia

Leeds United must pay £25 million for Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old Argentine scored one goal and provided seven assists as the Canaries finished bottom of the Premier League.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is hoping to strengthen his attacking options after securing promotion back to the Premier League.

As well as Buendia, the Whites have enquired about Club Brugge winger Emmanuel Dennis and have made an offer for Gent’s Jonathan David, although Lille are expected to win the race for the Canadian.

Leeds have also discussed the possibility of signing Brentford striker Ollie Watkins, who scored 25 goals during the 2019/20 Championship season.

Leeds targeting Gent defender Mohammadi

While Leeds may miss out on David, the club are hoping to sign his Gent teammate Milad Mohammadi, as per Football Insider.

The 26-year-old enjoyed an impressive season in Belgium and may be available for £6.3m.

Bielsa was able to rely upon Stuart Dallas at left-back during Leeds’ promotion campaign but is hoping to enhance his options ahead of a first crack at the top flight.

Mohammadi, who can also be used at right-back, played 24 times for Gent during the 2019/20 campaign as the club finished second to Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League.

Brighton new recruit may push White towards Leeds

Brighton & Hove Albion’s move for Joel Veltman may benefit Leeds given the fresh uncertainty over Ben White’s future at the Seagulls.

White has been a standout performer on loan at Leeds this season, and although Brighton boss Graham Potter has previously spoken of his desire to keep the defender, Veltman’s arrival may complicate matters.

With Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy, Matt Clarke and Adam Webster also available as central defensive options for Potter, Brighton may be receptive towards the idea of allowing an Elland Road return for White.
