Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, 21 September.
Leeds target De Paul alternative
Leeds are ready to focus their efforts on an alternative target to Rodrigo De Paul before the transfer window closes in an attempt to bolster their attacking-midfield options.
The Whites have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentine in recent weeks but have been unable, so far, to strike an agreement with Udinese for his services.
With just two weeks of the transfer window to go, Leeds are now plotting a move for Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi instead, according to reports.
Should Leeds opt to pursue a move for Malinovskyi instead, they would be landing a 27-year-old Ukrainian international who scored eight goals in 34 appearances in Italy’s top-flight last season, while making nine Champions League appearances for Atalanta.
Sky Sports pundit heaps praise on former Whites star
Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on the shoulders of former Leeds loanee Ben White after the Brighton & Hove Albion man's performance in their 3-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
White lined up at the back for the Seagulls for the second game in a row and helped Graham Potter's side record their first Premier League win of the campaign.
And following such an assured showing in the heart of the Brighton rearguard, Redknapp lavished White with praise, admitting that is was very understandable to see why Leeds were so keen to bring him back to Elland Road this summer.
He told Sky Sports: “I want to mention Ben White.
"There’s a centre-back there who is going to go right to the top. He is so comfortable on the ball, you can see why Leeds wanted to keep him.
"He’s destined for an amazing future, that young man, I love him."
Whites end Gvardiol hunt
Leeds have brought an end to their pursuit of young Croatian centre-back Josko Gvardiol, according to well-respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who is amongst the very best well connected people in the world of transfers.
Leeds had been closely tracking the highly-rated Dinamo Zagreb defender, with Whites chief Marcelo Bielsa eager to bolster his defensive options.
However, despite the Whites agreeing a fee for his services, the youngster turned down a contract.
German giants RB Leipzig are now poised to win the race for his signature.
