Leeds United morning headlines as Whites close in on signing, Andrea Radrizzani's pride

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Wednesday, 4 November.

Leeds have bid accepted for talented young defender

Leeds have made a big play for a number of young talents over the last few months, with Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville among those moving to Elland Road.

It now looks like the next name to join the list could be Sam Campbell, a 16-year-old defender currently on the books of Motherwell.

According to Football Insider, Leeds have had a bid accepted for Campbell, who has also been on the radar of Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool.

However, the Scottish club have reportedly offered the teenager a new deal in an effort to keep him at Fir Park.

Campbell had been due to travel to Leeds for trials last month, only for a positive COVID-19 test from one of the Whites’ academy players to derail the plans.

He has already spent time on trial with both Brighton and Liverpool, but Motherwell are understood to have offered him a new three-year deal and remain hopeful of keeping him north of the border.

Injury and suspension updates as Leeds prepare for Crystal Palace test

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will aim to bounce back from Monday’s defeat by Leicester City when they travel to London for a meeting with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Whites were beaten 4-1 by Leicester, who now sit second in the table, and will still be without a number of key men for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw remain unavailable in the middle of the park, while Rodrigo has been self-isolating due to contact with a positive COVID-19 case.

However, Raphinha and Diego Llorente - both of whom missed the Leicester game through injury - could be available to return.

Palace are at close to full strength, but questions remain over the availability of Luka Milivojevic after an appeal against the red card he was shown in the Londoners’ defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Andrea Radrizzani proud to see Leeds become people’s ‘second team’ since promotion

United have been involved in some of the Premier League’s most entertaining games since returning to the top flight, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have played out two separate seven-goal thrillers, and have shown a cavalier approach to attacking not always present in promoted sides.

Their start to the season has earned the club plenty of admirers, and owner Andrea Radrizzani has spoken of his pride at the response to his team.

“Recently I’ve seen on social media... about how Leeds became a second-team for many youngsters in the country," Radrizzani told BeIN Sports.

“Normally you choose the team with the best football and the best style of the team, so I’m very proud of that. We’re on the right way. I dream to take Leeds to Europe in time. One step at a time.”
