Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Saturday, September 26.
Leeds United boss spotted watching former assistant’s team
Marcelo Bielsa was spotted in the stands at the John Smith’s Stadium last night, taking in the performance of former Leeds United first team coach Carlos Corberan’s Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers took on Nottingham Forest, with the home side emerging 1-0 winners, and Bielsa was in attendance, observing and taking notes in typical fashion.
Bielsa took a shine to Corberan at Elland Road, promoting the coach to first team coach and describing him as “very talented.”
It might also have been the case that Bielsa was assessing Huddersfield Town before taking the decision to loan any of his Leeds squad there for the 2020/21 season.
Former Leeds United midfielder backs club in move for Chelsea man
Michael Brown believes a Leeds loan move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley would make a lot of sense.
Barkley has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in the team at Stamford Bridge, with competition stiff for a place in Lampard’s team. Brown thinks a switch to Elland Road could be what he needs.
“Ross would be returning back, he’s had a taste of it, I played with Ross at Leeds. He’s a fabulous talent, he’s got everything,” the former Whites player told Football Insider.
“Over the years he’s matured, he’s got better with his understanding of the game and I think he will be some player if Leeds United can get hold of him.”
Stuart Dallas reveals impact of Leeds United captain
Stuart Dallas has provided an insight into the influence of Liam Cooper as Whites captain after he played his 200th game for the club.
Cooper made his first appearance of the season in the 4-3 win over Fulham last weekend and Dallas has spoken about how the 27-year-old sets the tone around the club.
“I knew he was coming up to his 200th game and Coops isn’t really one for taking the plaudits or anything, he just goes quietly about his business,” Dallas told Leeds United’s official site.
“Playing 200 games is an incredible achievement at a club like this and as our captain as well he is someone who sets an example everyday and somebody who not only the younger players can learn off, but the senior players can learn off as well.
“He does everything the right way, he’s a great leader and a credit to himself and his family.”
