Leeds United morning headlines as transfer target drops major hint over future

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Thursday, May 7.

Leeds ‘target’ drops transfer hint

Metz striker Habib Diallo has been linked with a number of English clubs, with Leeds said to be one of the teams interested in signing the Senegal international.

There are also rumours that Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford have their eye on the 24-year old, who is said to be rated at around £18m. Diallo has now spoken about his future on Instagram:

"I don’t know if I’m going to leave or stay," he said.

"I still have two years left on my contract at Metz."

“I’m watching Liverpool,” he added.

Diallo has scored 12 goals and assisted three in his 26 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

Tyler Roberts on his lockdown motivation

Leeds’ squad haven’t trained together for eight weeks, but that hasn’t stopped them working hard at home. Whites’ striker Tyler Roberts has said that the motivation of securing promotion to the Premier League is helping him and his teammates get through the lockdown.

"I don’t think it's so much keeping yourself mentally motivated, because we're top of the league and we're working towards something which we've been trying to get for so long," he said.

"There's a lot on the line for us, so if we do slack off or stop doing the fitness sessions to our maximum we're going to be less fit when we come back and that's less chance of us getting promoted. I think all the boys, and especially me as well, have done every set, every rep the best I could for when we do come back."

The Leeds squad are in regular contact via WhatsApp groups, and they are determined to realise the club’s dream of promotion.

"There's a lot of stuff up in the air, but I think from me and all of the players have said in the chat we just desperately want to play the end of the season," he said.

Leeds aim to snap up Hugill

Transfer rumours continue to be generated despite the lockdown.

One of the latest stories is that Leeds have made a move to sign talented teenager Joe Hugill from Sunderland, according to Football Insider .

However, the 16-year old looks set to complete a move to Old Trafford instead. Hugill is said to have his heart set on joining Manchester United.

He will sign a scholarship deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side initially, before turning professional when he becomes 18.
