Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, 24 August.
What Ryan Kent would bring to Leeds United
Following confirmation from Rangers manager Steven Gerrard that the club have turned down a £10m bid from Leeds for Ryan Kent, we’ve taken an in-depth look at his profile.
Writer Colin Millar believes that the 23-year-old Liverpool academy graduate, who has three goals in five appearances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, would be a great addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
A hard-worker and skilled at dribbling, Kent is adept at playing out wide and would offer competition to Jack Harrison, but Gerrard has often used him in more central areas at Rangers, suggesting he could potentially offer depth behind Pablo Hernandez.
Here’s an in-depth look at Kent’s stats.
Former Leeds striker delighted to see Marcelo Bielsa’s side promoted
Burnley striker Chris Wood has spoken of his delight at seeing his former clubs Leeds and West Brom promoted.
The New Zealand international left United for Sean Dyche’s Clarets in 2017, having scored 27 goals in the Championship as Leeds narrowly missed out on a play-off place under Garry Monk.
Wood has since hit double figures in each of his three Premier League campaigns at Burnley, and an ever-present at Turf Moor.
As well as Leeds, Wood represented West Brom between 2008 and 2011, having originally signed for the Baggies from Waikato FC.
"It was nice seeing them both come up, I had great times at both of them," Wood admitted in an interview with TVNZ.
“West Brom have been up and down and have been in the Prem for a long time so it was much nicer seeing Leeds get up there.
"It's been way too long, I enjoyed my two years there and I’m hoping to see them [Leeds] stay up for a long period of time. I think with the manager they've got they will be."
Leeds alerted to availability of Arsenal defender Rob Holding
Leeds United’s search for a new centre-half could take a new twist amid reports from The Daily Mail, via The Daily Star, that Rob Holding has been transfer-listed by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
The 24-year-old, who has made 78 appearances for the Gunners since 2016, will be free to leave The Emirates this summer with highly-rated Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes set to arrive from Lille alongside returning loanee William Saliba.
Leeds have one senior centre-half on their books, club captain Liam Cooper, following Ben White’s return to parent club Brighton and the expiration of Gaetano Berardi’s contract.
Three bids for White have reportedly been rejected by Brighton, with Freiburg centre-half Robin Koch strongly tipped to be an alternative option.
