Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, July 6.
Jansson sends message after 3-1 win
Leeds won 3-1 against Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday to boost their Premier League dream.
Kalvin Phillips made it 2-0 before half-time by converting an excellent free-kick, much to the surprise of a former teammate.
Pontus Jansson commented on Phillips’ Instagram post after the game, saying: “Bro, since when did you start scoring goals?”
Phillips responded in good humour, commenting: “Every now and then.”
Jansson is one again battling for promotion to the Premier League, with his Brentford side five points behind second-placed West Bromwich Albion in the Championship table.
Gerrard is not daft
Steven Gerrard will always be linked with clubs in England while he is doing a good job with Rangers. He was reportedly approached by Birmingham City but turned the opportunity down, and there have been whispers that he could potentially manage Leeds in the future.
Former Rangers right-back Alan Hutton has been speaking to Football Insider, and said Gerrard would give serious consideration to an approach from a top English team.
"If there was a top Championship team, or a Premier League team, I think he would have a think about it, but at the moment in time, he’s very into what he’s doing and that’s building something at Rangers,” he said.
Augustin to sign for Leeds
Jean-Kevin Augustin joined Leeds on loan from RB Leipzig in January, but has struggled to make much of an impression. He has made just three substitute appearances, without scoring.
However, according to The Athletic, a clause in his loan contract means Leeds are obliged to sign the Frenchman.
As the story also claims it is unlikely he will feature under Bielsa, it’s not clear where this leaves the player’s future.
