Good morning, Leeds fans. Here are your morning headlines for Thursday, November 5.
Palace captain to miss Leeds clash
Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic will miss Saturday’s game with Leeds United after the Eagles lost their appeal against his red card in the defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers, as per the Evening Standard.
Milivojevic was dismissed for his challenge on Joao Moutinho following a VAR review.
But despite Palace boss Roy Hodgson having said that a three-game suspension would be a ‘gross injustice’, Milivojevic will miss the upcoming matches against Leeds, Burnley, and Newcastle United.
Leeds travel to Selhurst Park on Saturday hoping to bounce back from Monday night’s 4-1 home defeat by Leicester City. The sides drew 2-2 when they last met in the Championship in March 2013.
Radrizzani reveals pre-Liverpool team talk
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has revealed he gave the club’s players an inspirational team talk prior to their opening day defeat by Liverpool.
The Whites lost 4-3 to the Reds following an enthralling encounter at Anfield in what was Leeds’ first Premier League game since 2004.
And during an interview with SportsPro, Radrizzani lifted the lid on what he said to the players prior to their meeting with the newly-crowned champions.
“What I said to the team the day before is what I expect of them is to be the underdog, to be the challenger, to be a team that is always hard to beat,” he said.
“That’s exactly what they did in their first appearance in the Premier League, so it made me very proud.”
Olise may be available for £8m
Leeds may have the opportunity to sign highly-rated Reading midfielder Michael Olise for as little as £8 million in January, according to Football Insider.
The versatile 18-year-old has impressed in the Championship season with two goals and three assists to help lift the Royals to top spot.
The France Under-18 international, who is under contract at Reading until 2022, has an £8m release clause which may attract Leeds during the January transfer window.
Olise can operate in a variety of positions and could be an option for Marcelo Bielsa following Leeds’ failure to strengthen in central midfield over the summer.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton have also been linked with the teenager, who made his Reading debut as a 17-year-old in March 2019.
