Here are the Leeds United morning headlines for Wednesday, August 5.
Former Leeds man Brown speaks out after Gotts reports
Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts looks poised to move on loan to Huddersfield Town, linking up with former Whites under-23s coach Carlos Corberan.
The 20-year-old midfielder was a regular with Corberan’s squad last season, and made his senior Leeds debut against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
Reports suggest Gotts could be set for a loan switch to the John Smith’s Stadium, with Joe Gelhardt also a potential loan target for Corberan’s squad if he completes a permanent move from Wigan Athletic to Leeds.
And Brown, who spent three seasons at Leeds during his playing days, is confident the Spaniard will create a good environment for young players.
“It’ll be tough for them because the models that are about, in terms of youth and bringing people through, so I think it’s the perfect appointment to try and do that,” he told Football Insider.
“Obviously, he knows the young players very well and has a great link to Leeds so Gotts will have the confidence to go and play for somebody like that.”
Argentine defender identified as potential White replacement
One of the biggest challenges for Leeds in the Premier League will be finding a replacement for Ben White if they are unable to extend his stay.
The on-loan defender was an ever-present in the promotion campaign, but has now returned to parent club Brighton & Hove Albion and his future is unclear amid reported interest from other top-flight clubs.
It may well be that Marcelo Bielsa needs to quickly find a replacement, and that man may be Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi, according to journalist Martin Flores (via talkSPORT).
The Argentine youngster, who moved to the Netherlands last September, played 16 times in the Eredivisie in his debut season with the Rotterdam club and scored once against RKC Waalwijk.
He has been valued at £18million, with Everton and Atalanta also among the clubs to have been linked with the 23-year-old.
Former Arsenal striker thinks Leeds are more likely to land £30m goalscorer
Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has wasted no time at the start of the 2020/21 season, scoring a hat-trick in the Bhoys’ league opener against Hamilton Academical.
The French forward had already been the subject of speculation, with Arsenal among the clubs linked with the 22-year-old, but former Gunners frontman Charlie Nicholas believes Leeds would be a better fit.
Not only that, the pundit and former Scotland international believes the Whites have a better chance of clinching a move for Edouard.
"I know Edouard is still under contract but the player still holds all the power,” Nicholas told the Express.
"I don't see Arsenal making a move for him but I could see Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Leeds United or Leicester City making bids.
“I don't see him fitting into an Everton or a Newcastle, but he might suit Leeds United and would also do well at Leicester.
"He has to go to a club that suits his style because he knows that when he does leave and goes to the Premier League he is probably walking into a £100,000-a-week contract.”
