Leeds United morning headlines as Marcelo Bielsa issues Adam Forshaw injury update

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines on Friday 4th December.

Bielsa on Forshaw recovery

Marcelo Bielsa gave an update on the fitness of Adam Forshaw during his pre-Chelsea press conference, as the midfielder's tough recovery from a long-standing hip issue unfortunately drags on.

The 29-year-old has not featured for Leeds since September 2019, undergoing surgery surgery in the United States back in February.

Updates have been few and far between, with Bielsa saying back in September that he had undergone a setback and that the club did not want to put any pressure on him by issuing a return date.

Bielsa was against asked about the former Everton and Middlesbrough man in the run up to Saturday's trip to Stamford Bridge.

"He has highs and lows," said the Whites head coach. "But up until this point he hasn’t been able to do any football practises."

The Bielsa impact

Ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Marcelo Bielsa's tactics will soon begin to influence the rest of the Premier League.

Wright's former Gunners side take on their north London rivals Tottenham this weekend and he believes that Leeds United provided something of a blueprint for how to get the better of Mikel Arteta's team.

“It will be (Dani) Ceballos and (Granit) Xhaka. When you look at what Bielsa did to them, when he put (Mateusz) Klich on them to push them even further back.

“If Tottenham do anything like that, they’re going to have all that space.”

How will Leeds line-up at Chelsea?

The Leeds United squad will head down to London today for their Saturday night clash against Chelsea, but how will Marcelo Bielsa's starting XI look?

The 1-0 win over Everton last weekend was one of their most impressive performances of the season, so will it be the same again from Bielsa? Or will the Leeds head coach find a place for record signing Rodrigo in his side?

The LeedsLive team have set out who they want to see start here.

Leeds take on the Blues in a 8pm kick-off at Stamford Bridge looking to end Frank Lampard's side's 15-match unbeaten run.
