Here are the Leeds United morning headlines for Friday, May 29.
Livermore: We can beat Leeds to Championship title
West Bromwich Albion still believe they can finish top of the Championship – ahead of Leeds United.
The Whites had a one point advantage over the Baggies when football was shut down in March, which came after five successive wins for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
But Livermore thinks that his team can beat Leeds to the title.
He told The Express & Star: “The only fair way to finish it is on the field, so there are no arguments.
“Every team is going to have their own agenda and ours is to finish the league and hopefully finish top.
“That is what we hope we are able to do. That is why we have been training on our own for the last seven weeks, for this opportunity.”
Whites linked with Galatasaray forward
Leeds want to sign Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne, according to Fotomac, via Sport Witness.
The Senegalese international is reportedly “destined” for a move to England this summer, with the Elland Road club reportedly lining up a 5 million euros (£4.4 million) swoop.
Diagne, 28, is on loan at Belgian side Club Brugge, but he has not played a competitive game since November due to on and off-the-pitch issues with manager Philippe Clement.
Bielsa “likely to block Casilla’s exit”, says Phillips
Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was expected to leave Leeds this summer – but former England striker Kevin Philips expects manager Marcelo Bielsa to block his exit.
It was revealed last month that the Spanish stopper, 33, was thinking about a move back to La Liga following his eight-match racism ban.
But Phillips believes there is still a route back for Casilla, despite Leeds apparently being close to the £5 million permanent signing of loanee Ilan Meslier.
He told Football Insider: “Marcelo Bielsa likes his goalkeeper to be comfortable with the ball at his feet and be able to drill passes, left foot, right foot.
“It would not surprise me if he stuck with Casilla for that reason. He is good on the ball.”
Phillips added, however, that if he was a Leeds supporter, he would “like to see someone else between the sticks”.
