Leeds United morning headlines as Jose Campana's agent speaks out, Hasselbaink on improvements

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Friday, November 20.

Why Pablo Hernandez doubts have been solved for Leeds United

While we don’t have an official line on why Pablo Hernandez was omitted from Leeds United’s squad for their defeat at Crystal Palace, there have been clues.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed Hernandez was fit for the game but not selected, while the veteran Spaniard later hinted his reaction to being substituted against Leicester City may have played a part.

And Leeds fans will surely hope Hernandez’s social media activity during the international break has helped draw a line under things.

Hernandez himself appears to have felt the need to address the issue, and there will be a hope that Bielsa considers it closed.

Which Leeds United players have to improve against Arsenal?

We will find out for certain when the Leeds boss addresses the media ahead of this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink reveals where Leeds and Bielsa must improve

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s time at Leeds United was short but sweet, with the Dutchman scoring more than 40 goals across two seasons at Elland Road in the 90s.

The ex-striker has been paying attention to his former club’s progress upon their return to the top-flight, and has been impressed by the Whites’ start to the season.

Still, while Hasselbaink doesn’t see Leeds being troubled by relegation, he has pointed out areas where there is room for improvement for the club and for their manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Describing Leeds as “a breath of fresh air for the Premier League,” he acknowledged “they do play a style which leaves them very open to their opposition, and that has shown on a few occasions already this season”.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes at its launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on Leeds v Arsenal, Hasselbaink said: "They're very good against teams who say 'come on then, let's play football' - it suits them well and they normally take points from those games. But they have it harder against teams that sit in and counter, like Crystal Palace, Leicester and Wolves.

"They struggle because they don't keep people behind the ball. Sometimes they attack with seven players and it leaves them in trouble at the back.”

Jose Campana's agent speaks out

Leeds United failed in their summer pursuit of Spanish midfielder Jose Campana, but new comments from the player’s agent will come as a positive.

Reports at the time from Spain suggested Marcelo Bielsa’s side were unwilling to meet the asking price set by the player’s club Levante.

Campana, who played Premier League football for Crystal Palace earlier in his career, has since made his senior international for Spain.

As reported by The Boot Room , agent Juanma Lopez told Macho Levante: “In the future, I believe that several opportunities may open up, both in La Liga and abroad”.

The same report notes that Quico Catalan, president of the La Liga club, has explained Campana - who is under contract until 2023 - could be allowed to leave when the “circumstances arise” for a move.

Given the comments from those around Campana, Leeds may well be encouraged to return for the 27-year-old as soon as January.
