Leeds United morning headlines as James move backed, Rodrigo role hint for Sheffield United clash

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, 27 September.

Brown backs James interest

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Manchester United winger Daniel James and the club’s former midfielder Michael Brown has given his approval.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were among the teams interested in the Wales international last year when he was at Swansea City, but the player instead moved to Old Trafford.

Brown told Football Insider: “They almost had him, they had the deal done and they really lost that one, Leeds United.

“I know how much they like him and Dan James will know how much they like him. It would be a good signing for Leeds United.

“I’m not sure Manchester United will let that one happen. Costa and Harrison aren’t doing bad so far, you always want to improve in wider areas and attacking areas. Leeds United are just looking to improve all over the pitch.”

What Leeds training video revealed

Leeds released a video of a recent training session which may have given hints on how they will line up against Sheffield United today, as Leeds Live report.

Going by which players were in coloured bibs, it appears that striker Rodrigo Moreno will start from the bench.

Winger Ian Poveda was wearing a No.10 bib, perhaps indicating Bielsa is looking to mould him into a central playmaker.

Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw are both shown doing gym work as they continue on the comeback trail from recent injuries, while Ezgjan Alioski - who is likely to be a substitute - has once again bleached his hair.

Remembering Leeds XI from 1994

It has been 26 years since Leeds last took on Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United in the top-flight of English football and Leeds Live has looked back at what has happened to the Whites XI from that day.

There were plenty of iconic figures in that Leeds side, including future manager of the club David O’Leary and midfielder Gary Speed, who passed away nine years ago.

There were multiple other iconic figures including the likes of Gary Kelly, Gordon Strachan, Gary McAllister and Brian Deane - the scorer of the first ever goal in the Premier League for Sheffield United.
