Leeds United morning headlines as fans heap praise on Meslier, Klich transformation

Here are your Leeds United morning headlines for Monday, 30 November.

Mills on ‘absolutely superb’ Klich

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has praised midfielder Mateusz Klich and the man-management of Marcelo Bielsa.

It follows comments from Bielsa that Klich - who has started all of the Leeds league games this campaign - “can play in all the best teams in the world”.

Mills told Football Insider: “It’s a manager giving his player confidence which you’d expect them to do from time to time.

“Playing in any team in the world? That might be stretching it a little bit.

“I think Mateusz Klich has done very, very well because when Bielsa first came in he was almost surplus to requirements, he wasn’t being used an awful lot before he came in and could have been on his way.

Bielsa on Raphinha's performance

“He’s got talent, he’s a clever midfield player, he’s very fit and he’s reliable.

“Undoubtedly he’s got quality. Maybe it’s a little bit of a stretch to say he could play in any team in the world.

“He’s just trying to say ‘I rely on this player, he’s been fantastic for me’ and he has, he’s been absolutely superb.

“He just gets on with his business, does what he has to do. He’s very, very fit, looks after himself very well and comes up with key goals from time to time.

“Bielsa is just trying to praise him and show him some love.”

Leeds more than great entertainers

There has been a lot of praise for Leeds this season as the ‘great entertainers’ of the Premier League.

However, as outlined by Leeds Live, United have also shown defensive resilience and solidity in recent outings.

Not only have Marcelo Bielsa’s side kept successive clean sheets against Arsenal and Everton, but they have done so without compromising their attack-minded style of play.

Liam Cooper and Robin Koch are now getting a run of games in the heart of the defence and that is making a big difference.

Leeds limited Arsenal and Everton to infrequent half-chances and the soft underbelly on display against Leicester City and Crystal Palace appears to have disappeared.

Leeds fans hail 'best £5m spent' signing

Illan Meslier has been integral to the clean sheets against Arsenal and Everton, and he has rightly earned praise from the fan base.

Saturday saw the Frenchman shut out Everton, on the same day that former Leeds goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell conceded five goals for Burnley at Manchester City.

A Leeds fan on Reddit wrote that Meslier was "the best thing that will ever be bought for £5m.”

Another added: "He’s actually quality, incredibly calm and collected for his age. Unless he gets injured there's genuinely no chance Kiko Casilla will get another look in."

Meslier was signed for £5m this summer from Lorient.
