Leeds United morning headlines as Championship manager takes aim at Marcelo Bielsa

Here are the Leeds United morning headlines.

Robbie Savage a surprise fan of Bielsa-ball

Daily Mirror columnist Robbie Savage has awarded Leeds United a four out of five on his end-of-year report card in which he doles out scores for Premier League clubs.

Despite terming the Whites 'naive', it appears Savage has been sufficiently impressed with the way Bielsa has arranged his bunch of players, especially considering the level of quality he is working with and the number of injuries Leeds have faced.

The former Manchester United man is a supporter of the entertainment factor Bielsa's Leeds bring to the Premier League, and reading between the lines, certainly shares the view of Leeds fans that the team add value to the league.

How will Bielsa improve defence without impacting attack?

"Win or lose, they have been a joy to watch and Marcelo Bielsa’s approach has been a breath of fresh air."

Neil Harris makes strange Leeds United comparison

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has taken aim at Leeds United by comparing them to Norwich City this season.

The Bluebirds boss described the Canaries as a 'cut above' the rest of the division as well as Leeds United last year, when speaking to WalesOnline.

It is an odd comparison to make given that Leeds are now a Premier League club, having earned promotion last season, and Norwich are yet to prove their longevity over this year's Championship campaign.

If Daniel Farke's men were to fall away and fail at returning to the top flight, Harris' description would certainly look premature.

"I think Norwich, from what I saw the other day, are a cut above in the league this year. I thought they were better than Leeds last year. The praise that Leeds took last year was immense."

Harris' men take on Brentford in the second tier later today, while Leeds host Burnley in the Premier League tomorrow.

'Football obsessive' Victor Orta on why Leeds was the perfect fit

Leeds United's enigmatic and colourful Director of Football Victor Orta has spoken about his negotiations to become the club's transfers chief in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS.

He recalled the standing Leeds have in the English game, as well as his own desire to work for such an historic club.

"I thought of helping to wake up a sleeping giant in the second tier."

Orta's record at Leeds has been a successful one, with almost every first-team addition in recent seasons paying dividends on the field.

He has also overseen an overhaul of the club's academy products, with multiple under-23s signed under his watch as Orta and director Angus Kinnear look to improve the quality at Thorp Arch from the bottom up.
