Leeds United morning headlines as Bielsa drops team news hint and transfer target suffers injury

Good morning, Leeds fans. Here are your morning headlines for Friday, June 19.

Leeds target to miss rest of season

Reported Leeds United target Juan Foyth is unlikely to play again for Tottenham Hotspur this season after the Argentine suffered a serious knee injury in training.

According to Argentine outlet TNT Sports , the defender will be ruled out for several weeks with a meniscus injury.

TNT also claim the country’s national coach Lionel Scaloni and team doctor Daniel Martinez have been in touch with Foyth and that the centre-back's injury may require surgery.

The 22-year-old has fallen out of favour with Spurs manager Jose Mourinho and has been heavily liked with a move to Elland Road, where he would join compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa hints at changes for Cardiff trip

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has hinted at changes to his team ahead of Sunday’s game with Cardiff City.

The Whites will meet the Bluebirds on Sunday and, at his pre-match press conference, the Argentine coach emphasised the football Leeds played before the hiatus will be very different to that on show during the Championship run in.

Bielsa said: “We think [they will respond] well [to the break],” he said. “[The players] have done a big effort so far.

“They work responsibly, but the football we are going to play is not going to be the same football we played before.

“For this reason, it’s very important to wait for the matches to be played before our analysing our performances."

Hernandez absence will hurt Leeds

Former Leeds United defender Alex Bruce believes the absence of Pablo Hernandez for the clash with Cardiff City is a “big blow”.

Bielsa confirmed at his pre-match press conference that the Spanish midfielder would be missing, as well as forward Jean-Kevin Augustin.

And it's Hernandez’s absence that will be felt the most according to Bruce.

He told Football Insider : “It will be a big blow, he’s a big player for then, he carries bags of experience for them as well.

“When you want to go for promotion with eight or nine games left, whatever it is, you need your experienced players to carry you over the line.”

Hernandez has scored six goals and provided six assists in his 28 Championship outings this season.
